At 2:14AM Anthony Cruz hit the stage right on the heels of Wickerman. He immediately went straight into a hardcore performance. This was severely interrupted by 3 females who began to shout for him to take off his jacket. This he obviously had no intentions of doing. One would have thought that after he refused they would have let it go ... Cruffy boy!!! they really spoiled it for the rest when their continuous heckling literally drove Cruz off the stage.
The detestably obnoxious girls were really beginning to annoy him as he couldn't just perform and ignore them, the sound system obviously couldn't be turned up any higher. He could hear them almost as loud as they could hear him. This we are sure is the reason he left the stage at 2:23AM just 9 minutes after he began his performance. Cruz has a great number of hits under his belt and thanks to the 3 most retarded women the rest of us could not hear them. I have always said that if and when I start to promote shows, I will have security to maintain a certain behavior, people like that I would have escorted out.
Chuck Fender came on stage at 2:25AM to a very welcoming applause. By this time the 3 retards had already left (to everyone relief), He was the calm after the storm giving hits after hits that everyone could sing along to. At one point he stopped singing for an entire verse and chorus just to listen to the crowd singing for him. There was even a girl who seemed to be crying with arms reaching out for the artist; Chuck had an extremely good grip on the crowd. What he said, they did, and needless to say they keep shouting for him not to go.
When he said he had to leave, those ladies in the front row started pulling on his shirt and mic cord. All the hype died though when he told the story of a 6 year old girl in Jamaica who was abducted and gang raped by 5 men who later slit her throat. Things like this he said was the inspiration for the song "Light Dem", which has the line
"Gas dem and light dem, and all the negative vibes weh dem a bring,
Gas dem and light dem, and wit dem bag a senseless killing"
Pre-Father's Day Reggae Explosion
Belize City Center
June 16th 2007
When Beep Beep and High altitude conceived the "Pre-Father's Day Reggae Explosion"  We're sure they saw it way different from how it actually went down. They had promotions on lock, at all radio stations except for one. .
No television commercials were run, but I believe
that all the rest made up for that.

The Vibz TV crew arrived at the City Center at 1:30, expecting to see a show already in progress, instead we saw app. 100 people scattered around the bleachers waiting for the show to start. Which it did at 1:56AM when Black Pearl, a song writer who also traveled with the artists had doubled as MC for the night, introduced Wickerman.

The name Wickerman goes back as far as the early 80s and is synonymous with Captain Barky. Together the duo has brought out many hits, but despite their long history, their names didn’t trigger a response from many Belizeans. That’s probably because most of his hits are now old skool. However In an interview with him in his hotel room he made it clear he's not old skool, but rather "The Real Skool" from the days when all the veterans and reggae dancehall pioneers was the "in thing." He started to give us his history, which caused the realization that he's actually related to our driver "Irie Famous" who is also from Jamaica. The vibes in the hotel was so nice that we anxiously awaited him to hit
stage, and when he did it was all hype. Despite the fact that he wasn't the main artist that drew the crowd, the people loved him. During his 20 minute performance, he had many issues with the mic. All the speakers were arranged in a single column on one side of the stage, there were no monitors on stage and the mic was too low therefore he couldn't hear himself. After calling for the mic volume to be raised, the rhythms he was performing to was lowered instead. Then the cordless mic started to trip out, this was then replaced by a corded mic with a cord so short his movements were then restricted to just one side of the stage. After the crowd started screaming for Captain Barkey it was explained that he was held up in Miami. Despite all the glitches which we believed made his performance so short, he gave a very powerful performance and ran off stage at 2:14AM, A total of 20 minutes.
After His performance which ended at 3:00AM, We had an interview with him where he stated that despite the less than satisfactory turnout for the second time now, if invited again, he’d accept again. Because it's all about the message, so no matter what the turnout is, the message has to be spread.

Today we tried to get a feedback from the promoter as to what he believes went wrong with the turnout, but couldn’t get trough.
The assumptions we got is that the turnout was affected by a fatal shooting the night before which had patrons scared of a retaliation which would include individuals at the show.

In Closing
To the promoter: Good job on promotions, and lineup
To the Patrons: You showed the visiting artists that even in small numbers you can party and have a good time, just like what their use to. Keep Bashing.
To the Retards: Everyone buys their tickets and goes to these shows to be entertained by the artists. If you get a free ticket and end up their, keep your yap shut and not spoil it for everyone else.

They had sizable posters planted at various high points in
the city.  They had what we saw for the first time, self adhesive vinyl stickers on several vehicles including taxies
